The FINANCIAL — President-elect Viktor Yanukovych intends to meet with Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev during the period of March 1-10.
Medvedev's press service announced this in a statement.
"After exchanging views on the prospects for bilateral cooperation, D. Medvedev and V. Yanukovych agreed on a visit to Moscow by the President of Ukraine in the near future – within the first ten days of March this year," the press service said.
According to the press service, Medvedev once again congratulated Yanukovych on his complete, final, legal, and internationally recognized victory in the Ukrainian presidential elections.
The conversation took place at the initiative of Medvedev.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, President Viktor Yuschenko has congratulated Yanukovych on his election as the next president of Ukraine.
The parliament has scheduled Yanukovych's inauguration for February 25.
Medvedev congratulated Yanukovych on his election on February 9 and Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulated him on February 15.
The Central Electoral Commission declared Yanukovych as the winner of the presidential elections on February 14.
