It has been years since “Smart Capital Group” actively positioned itself in the market as a responsible company. This year, the company made a decision to take more active steps towards the sustainable development, and to define the priority areas of social responsibility from its own impacts.
Women’s empowerment and gender equality is one of the main lines of the company’s impacts, to which “Smart Capital Group” attaches an important role; The management team of the company is headed by several females, the gender balance is fully preserved in the so-called front office as well. However, in parallel with the positive impact, there are also areas in the company, requiring more work when it comes to the topic of gender equality. That is why “Smart Capital Group” started taking one of the earliest steps in the implementation of social responsibility action plan in the field of women’s empowerment and became signatories of the Women’s Empowerment Principles, the so-called WEPS.
The 7 principles of women’s empowerment can be represented as a guide for businesses with high social responsibility. By signing WEPS, the company becomes responsible to ensure the protection of equal rights of women and men in the workplace and society, and support the empowerment of women on social and economic levels.
“I am thrilled that “Smart Capital Group” became a signatory company of the Women’s Empowerment Principles. Despite the fact that the investment group has implemented a number of interesting initiatives to empower women, we believe that in cooperation with the UN Women, we will be able to take some serious active steps and attain results. Women’s economic empowerment, personal development, high job satisfaction index, and ensuring safety is directly reflected in the success of any company and the development of the economy as a whole,” – noted Nana Gotua, head of “Smart Capital Group” social responsibility division.
“Involvement of business sector in achieving gender equality is a very important process for us. Women’s economic empowerment, introduction of anti-discrimination policies and procedures, offering flexible working conditions to employees, promotion and supporting them are the most important steps leading to the fulfillment of the primary goal – strengthening the role of women. We are more than delighted that “Smart Capital Group” joined the women’s empowerment principles – such an important value. We have high hopes that in the future they will implement many social initiatives and projects useful for women”, – stated Elene Gabelaia, Project Analyst, UN Women.
