The competition was organized by UN Global Compact Network Georgia with the support of the Swedish Government and the USAID Civil Society Engagement Program, and was held in Georgia for the sixth time this year.
Vakhtang Kacharava, CEO of Tegeta Holding: “This victory is very important for Tegeta Holding because it demonstrates our approach to social and environmental responsibility. Tegeta Holding is led by a CSR strategy in accordance with international standards, where one of the priority areas is taking care of the environment and the society around us. We have been implementing numerous large-scale projects in this direction. For example, this year, we issued GEL 20 million green bonds exclusively for environmental initiatives, and we are already working on the development of green infrastructure and ecological transport. This victory is proof that the company has high corporate social responsibility. We have extensive plans ahead, and this victory will be an additional motivation for us.”
The project “Tegeta for the Environment” combines the Holding’s complex approach to environmental care, and includes all the green initiatives implemented in 2022-2023 by the company within the framework of environmental responsibility. The project combined three directions: sustainable transportation to achieve zero emissions, effective waste management, and awareness raising campaigns.
The project “Tegeta for Social Enterprises” combines pro bono projects implemented by the Holding aiming to strengthen public organizations and social enterprises. Since 2022, Tegeta Holding has been a member of the Georgian Pro Bono Network, and, with the involvement of its employees, it has carried out a number of activities in support of civil organizations. In addition, the Holding provides support for social enterprises on the platform Tegeta Care.
The Corporate Sustainability Award 2023 is intended for companies whose activities are based on progressive, modern, value-based business models, and which aim to promote sustainable development.
