The FINANCIAL — “Elle, – it’s a kind of feminine partner for the YSL L’Homme. I believe YSL needs no awareness-raising in Georgia as we have a population with quite exquisite tastes. Elle is the best fit for any self-confident urban woman who knows the true values of life,” declared Khatia Shamugia, Ici-Paris PR Manager.
“The YSL woman evolves in the city.
Her fragrance like her virtual essence,
a faithful presence underlining her steps.
Now the whole town has become her stomping ground.
From the left bank to right, she lives her freedom boundlessly,
dashing along familiar avenues, striding across bridges
that resound with the click of her fashionable high heels.
The city maps out her field of inspiration, her ground for expression.
Material for creation.
Her memories hang on every street sign:
From delight to emotion, from desire to passion,” Elle 2007.
On October 12, at a press-launch held at the hotel Betsy, Ici-Paris announced that Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) consumers in Georgia will be able to find the brand new fragrance- Elle at Ici-Paris shops. Like last year’s L'Homme Yves Saint Laurent, the new fragrance is geared towards a young market.
Opening with citron and litchi smoothed by peony, the fragrance follows with a vibrant heart of jasmine sambac and pink berries and ends with woody notes of patchouli and vetiver. In its brief to the perfumers, YSL described a modern and urban woman, very feminine but with a touch of masculinity.
“Another novelty from YSL arrived this fall, hoping to win the hearts of young and modern girls. The tender and distinguished fragrance Elle, designed by Olivier Cresp and Jacques Cavallier, brings joy with its luminous crisp notes of lemon and litchi on a peony petal,” said Shamugia.
Elle developed by perfumers Olivier Cresp and Jacques Cavallier, is available as 50 (GEL 172) and 90 (GEL 232) ml Eau de Parfum and in matching body products.
“The face of the fragrance is the young and extravagant 18-year old model Coco Rocha,” noted Shamugia.
Irish dancing was a specialty for young Coco. She’d been to countless practices and competitions so that it was all very routine. However one day, her presence at a competition would change her life forever. She was fourteen and with her regular troupe of dancers at yet another Irish dance competition. It was there that a man approached Rocha; he introduced himself as Charles Stuart. He asked her if she would consider modelling for him. Coco didn’t quite know what to make of it; she had had no original intentions of becoming a model. When she found out that he was indeed a legitimate agent with a real modelling agency, she decided to go for it. At age fifteen, her modelling career first took off.
Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent is a French fashion designer, considered among the greatest of the 20th century. In 1985, in her book, Couture: The Great Fashion Designers, Caroline Rennolds Milbank wrote, “The most consistently celebrated and influential designer of the past twenty-five years, Yves Saint Laurent can be credited with both spurring the culture's rise from its Sixties ashes and with finally rendering ready-to-wear reputable.”
In 1962, in the wake of his nervous breakdown, Saint Laurent was released from Dior and started his own label, Yves Saint Laurent, financed by his companion, Pierre Bergé.
He was the first, in 1966, to popularize ready-to-wear in an attempt to democratize fashion, with Rive Gauche and the boutique of the same name. He was also the first designer to use black models in his runway shows.
In 1983, he became the first living fashion designer to be honoured by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Saint Laurent retired in 1998 and has since then become increasingly reclusive and has spent much of his time at his house in Marrakech, Morocco.
In 2001, he was awarded the rank of Commandeur of the Légion d'Honneur by French President Jacques Chirac.
