The FINANCIAL – According to RIA Novosti, Police in south east Tajikistan, Central Asia, seized on November 12 a total of 22 kilograms (48 pounds) of heroin from a Tajik national, the country's drug control agency said.
Police arrested a drug courier, an Afghan national, who had delivered the heroin to Tajikistan.
"Information on his detention was passed to Afghan special services," a spokesman said.
The report released by the Agency for drug control, said over 950 kilograms (2,094 pounds) of drugs, including more than 360 kilograms (794 pounds) of heroin, have been seized by police in January-October.
Tajikistan is a major transit country for drugs from the world's largest heroin producer, Afghanistan, to former Soviet republics including Russia and some Western countries.
