The FINANCIAL — A new oil terminal will soon officially open in Samtredia, Western Georgia, says Wissol. The company has recently completed its construction and the terminal will become operational at full capacity in mid February.
The management says that Wissol has invested several millions in the terminal which can accommodate 32m litres of petrol, diesel and jet fuel.
The new terminal is the biggest land terminal in Georgia and will emerge as the key fuel storage facility in Western Georgia. It can store half the amount of oil products Georgia consumes monthly.
“The terminal allows us to satisfy the demand for oil products in Western Georgia and we are happy to supply any of our products to any fuel station in the region. Local corporate customers can now also avail themselves of our products at a more acceptable price as we have reduced logistics costs. The terminal has Italian equipment, which is a step forward in the modernization of the sector,” said Samson Pkhakadze, Wissol Supervisory Board Director.
Wissol holds a 25% share of the oil market in Georgia and is thereby the market leader. The investments made in the new terminal will further enhance Wissol’s competitiveness and position in the market. As oil prices on global markets remain volatile, the terminal will allow Wissol to regulate local fuel prices.
