The FINANCIAL — On Tuesday, November 4, 2008 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., the University of Piraeus, in partnership with the Association of Banks of Georgia through its training arm Georgian Banking Training Center is hosting the Official Launching of the new project “Training of Trainers for the Banks of Georgia”, at “Musa Hall”( at the entrance of Turtle Lake highway, Vake).
This new programme is funded through the Hellenic Aid programme of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Georgian Banking Training Center (GBTC) has been set up by the Association of Banks of Georgia (ABG) and the Caucasus University (CU) with the financial support of the USAID’s SME Support Project. The dynamic, innovative and flexible training programs offered by GBTC in cooperation with the Hellenic Bank Association and the Hellenic Banking Institute provide Georgian banking sector professionals with the skills required by Georgia’s expanding financial sector.
According to Levan Gogoladze, coordinator of this project and Director of GBTC, “this program will cover three different areas in banking industry – International Financial Reporting Standards, Human Resources Management and Consumer Banking. These topics were selected according to the needs of banking community. The University of Piraeus provides all training materials and courses will be delivered by international experienced experts. GBTC will select candidates for these courses, so that in future, training center will be able to deliver them on its own basis. GBTC will also utilize experienced banking sector professionals and university professors as trainers.
At the project opening ceremony, addresses will be delivered by Mr. Zurab Gvasalia – President of the Association of Banks of Georgia, the Ambassador of Greece in Georgia Mr George Chatzimihelakis, Professor Joseph Hassid – Project Director, Mr. Levan Gogoladze – project coordinator and Director of GBTC and by bank executives.
