The FINANCIAL — NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg paid an official visit to Georgia. A state arrival ceremony took place at the Tbilisi international airport where Jens Stoltenberg was welcomed by Georgian Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili and Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the North Atlantic Alliance Aleksandre Maisuradze.
“This visit is a clear demonstration of the NATO’s support for Georgia and a proof of the continuation of the high-level political that has been ongoing intensively during the past few years. This visit is also a clear demonstration of the fact that Georgia remains high on the agenda of the NATO and the Member States of the Alliance.” – Tamar Beruchashvili said.
The NATO Secretary General arrived for a two-day official visit in Georgia on 26 and 27 August. Jens Stoltenberg. Jens Stoltenberg will meet representatives of the executive and legislative branches of the government, according to MFA Georgia.
On 27 August an inaugural ceremony of the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Centre will be held at the site of the Krtsanisi Training Centre. The Secretary General will meet representatives of the Georgian military unit who have been trained for the NATO’s Rapid Response Force.
Discussions within the framework of the official meetings will focus on a broad spectrum of issues relating to Georgia’s integration with the NATO, steps that have been taken in this direction, progress achieved in the implementation of the Substantial Package and preparations for the NATO Summit in Warsaw scheduled for 2016.
