The FINANCIAL — On Tuesday, Oreo announced a pack of limited-edition Oreo cookies with the Supreme’s logo baked in. The New York-based street wear company revealed the designer cookies as part of its new spring-summer 2020 accessories line. Oreo is also releasing a number of other flavors in a near future.
Oreo has confirmed it’s going Supreme. The cookie is the latest to partner with the streetwear brand, known for its high prices, drop model and collaborations with popular brands. Supreme dropped the Oreo news as it revealed its spring-summer 2020 accessories and lookbook online. Supreme’s Twitter account @TheSupremeSaint first shared the bright red cookie Tuesday morning. By afternoon, the tweet had nearly 60,000 likes and more than 16,000 retweets. Jason Kletzky, founder and president at Collaborations Licensing LLC, seems to be the one behind the licensing deal. On Tuesday he posted a photo of the Supreme Oreo to LinkedIn with the comment: “2 years in the making…” He did not respond to a request for comment, according to AdAge.
Not nearly content to rest on its laurels, this season’s newly unveiled drop features its own strange cache of Supreme-branded accessories for quite literally every occasion. From Ziplocs to padlocks, the new selection of items features utilitarian oddities such as Audubon bird calls, a pair of binoculars, a foldable lawn chair, a BMX bike, fine china, a box of FUJIFILM instax film and a mechanic’s workstation. But by far, all anyone can talk about is the Supreme Oreos. With a rumored $8 price tag for a pack of three cookies, it definitely falls on the more affordable end of the spectrum when it comes to Supreme products, but it isn’t likely that you will see a pack of these shoved between bags of Utz chips and honey buns at your local bodega any time soon, Paper wrote.
The company, known more for their skateboarding clothes than desserts, revealed its Spring/Summer 2020 accessories line on Monday and the deep red cookie immediately caught the attention of basically everyone who knows what’s good. Other items in the accessories line include a Supreme-branded 32-oz. Nalgene bottle, a set of two Heller mugs, and even a box of Ziploc bags, People reported.
Oreo is also releasing a number of other flavors in the coming months. Their upcoming Tiramisu flavor will be hitting shelves in April for a limited time, and they feature a two-layer tiramisu-flavored creme — most likely the traditional vanilla creme and a coffee creme — to create a seriously delicious dessert. They will also be releasing red, white and blue Team USA cookies ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games this July. A representative for the cookie company confirmed to PEOPLE in early February that “Oreo will have even more for fans to enjoy ahead of the 2020 Games.” You’ll need to stay tuned to find out just exactly what they mean, according to People.
The entire Supreme’s SS20 line — including the $8 three-pack of Oreos — is set to drop Feb. 20 at Supreme’s New York stores on the Lower East Side and in Brooklyn, with an online release set for the following week. Diehard digital watchdogs, however, originally spotted the now-viral cookie last summer. A red herring of sorts was first “leaked” six months ago on Reddit, where many commenters doubted its “legitimacy,” New York Post reported.
