The FINANCIAL — Vazha Siradze, head of Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) held a meeting. At the meeting, the parties discussed the concept of development for the Patrol Police Unified Service Center. With the help of UNDP, the Unified Service Center will introduce an international public sector quality management mechanism – the Unified Evaluation System (CAF).
The event was held within the framework of the project – “Support to Strengthen the Organizational Capacities of the Unified Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia to Provide Better Public Services”.
The project aims to support the organizational capacity of the Unified Service Center of the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs through capacity building measures aimed at efficient and inclusive delivery of customer-oriented public services and increased access to these services for people with disabilities. With the support of UNDP, the Center staff will be trained in customer relations, emotion management, and the provision of services tailored to the needs of people with disabilities. In addition, with the help of UNDP, the Unified Service Center will also introduce an international public sector quality management mechanism – the Unified Evaluation System (CAF), which is successfully used by up to 4,500 public agencies in EU countries, as reported by Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Assistance from the Home Office is part of a project of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Government of the United Kingdom worth $ 6 million (4.5 million) to support public administration reform in Georgia and includes three main areas of reform: policy development and coordination, human resource management And civil service reform, as well as the provision of public services. The project has been implemented in close cooperation with the Department of International Relations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs since 2020.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the leading development organization in Georgia. Since 1993, UNDP has part of the country’s success in many fields, including its democratic reforms, inclusive growth, conflict transformation, green solutions and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Last month, International Organization for Migration (IOM) with the financial assistance of European Union handed over modern equipment for document inspection to the Patrol Police Department. The equipment provided to the Patrol Police Department of the MIA complies with international standards and will assist Patrol Police officers in thorough examination of the documents and determination of their authenticity.
IOM have donated 60 pieces of advanced border management equipment to the MIA. This included document inspection equipment, enabling passport control officers at key border crossing points in Georgia to do a quick check of the security features of passports and other travel documents. In case of doubt, they can refer passengers to a more thorough second-line inspection and examination. These instruments are part of an EU funded support programme which includes equipment valued at EUR 10 million (GEL 34 Million) to Georgian authorities for use in areas of migration and border management.
