The FINANCIAL — According to APA-Economics, Azerbaijan’s leading mobile operator Azercell Telecom has launched MobilBank service.
Rufat Abbasov, Press Secretary of the Company, told APA-Economics that the new service allows customers to get information on the status of their bank accounts — recent operations, incoming and outgoing amounts etc. around the clock even while abroad.
“The access is secured with a special password (PIN – personal identification number) set by user,” he added.
In order to subscribe to the MobilBank service customers should obtain a special SIM-card supporting the service from Azercell Customer Care offices and fill out the application form.
Cost of the message received from 7112 containing information on the services and bank operations – 0.10 AZN (VAT excluded) or 22 units.
The service is currently available for customers of the International Bank of Azerbaijan.
At present Azercell’s customer base has reached 3 million. Azercell Telecom JV has been in operation since 1996. Azercell Telecom JV is owned by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies (35.7%) and Fintur Holdings B.V. (64.3%).
Fintur Holdings B.V. owners are TeliaSonera 58% and Turkcell 42%.
