The FINANCIAL — According to APA-Economics, the International Commission for the Caspian Sea Biodiversity will set the catch quota and caviar export share for Caspian Sea states in Ashgabat on December 17-20.
The decision is subject to approval by Geneva-based Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources said Azerbaijan’s share is expected to be left unchanged for 2008.
The U.N. Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora set Azerbaijan’s quota for sturgeon species catch at 90 tons and for caviar export at 6,660 tons for 2007.
