CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga City Mayor Tim Kelly and the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport announced that Delta will resume nonstop flights from CHA to LaGuardia International Airport in New York.
The flights will resume Monday, October 7, 2024, leaving Chattanooga in the early morning and returning in the evening.
This has been a priority of Mayor Kelly’s since the flights were canceled due to the COVID- 19 pandemic.
“Resuming air service to LaGuardia has been a high priority for my administration since coming into office, because of its key impact on economic development and the access to all the culture and tourism New York City has to offer. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Delta, and thank April Cameron and her team at CMAA, as well as her board, for all the progress we are making at Lovell Field,” stated Kelly.
Passengers will be aboard a CRJ-900 plane that contains 76 seats including 12 first class, 20 Delta Comfort+, and 44 main cabin seats.
“New York has been the most sought-after market that our business community has requested every year. Delta has always been a tremendous partner, and we are deeply grateful for their continued confidence in our city and region. The schedules will be very accommodating for business travelers who need to fly out and return the same day,” said Chattanooga Airport President and CEO, April Cameron.
Kelly and Cameron made the trip down to Atlanta in December of 2023 to meet with Delta officials to discuss resuming this flight, and possible new flights out of and into Chattanooga.
