The holiday season has arrived.
We can finally watch our city magically transform into a winter wonderland, filled with family-friendly fun and exciting entertainment! Here are a few ways you can join in the holiday fun.
Shop small this holiday season
Have you heard of Small Business Saturday? This is an annual event that celebrates local small businesses, the people who run them, and the important impact they have in their communities. Every local dollar can make a lasting impact in the lives of business owners and their families. Shop small this holiday season on November 26!
Can’t make it out? Here are some ways you can support small business’ this holiday season.
As always, we hope you check out the shops at Christmas Village in LOVE Park and support some of our local vendors!
Give back
For those in the “spirit of giving” there are several opportunities to give back to the community. The first-ever Navy Yard Winter Wonderland & Winter Clothing Drive is approaching. This is a free event where you can enjoy a variety of winter-themed activities and donate winter clothing, which will be given to children at local elementary schools.
Looking for something specific? You can also find an array of volunteer opportunities around the city using the Mayor’s Office of Volunteer Service volunteer corps portal.
Have fun
As you can see there is no shortage of festive activities this season, whether it be snapping a photo with our breathtaking holiday tree, taking a spin in the outdoor Dilworth Ice Rink, or enjoying one of our free Parks & Recreation (PPR) Ice Rinks located in various parts of the city, or join PPR for a holiday celebration!
Are you adventurous and looking for outdoor winter activities like helping spot birds at the Christmas Bird Count or sitting around a campfire and roasting s’mores? Parks & Recreation (PPR) has a variety of events like these to choose from!
We hope you’ll join us at one of the amazing holiday events happening throughout our city.
