The FINANCIAL — The number of amusement centres in Tbilisi has been drastically increasing, from new swimming pools to bowling centers and air balloons.
20 yea old student Mariam Gviniashvili is planning to stay for most of the summer in Tbilisi because of a part time job she recently applied for.” I also spent last summer here in Tbilisi with my friends going to Turtle Lake and picnicking in the greater Tbilisi area. We also frequently go to Mtatsminda Bombora Park because of the nature and amusement we get there. At nights I go to nightclubs together with my friends,” said Mariam.
Tbilisi Euro Park which is one of the most visited places during hot summer days offers various water attractions, five pools, a gym, Jacuzzi, animation programmes, birthday parties, and a hotel that will be opened in early June, at 3 Vakhtang Ninua St. near Kikvidze Garden.
“For this season we have one of the new Euro Park plastic cards that cost 300 GEL and allows the visitor 30 full days with service provided,” said Natia Meparishvili, PR Manager at Euro Park.
“We also have zoom days organized by Geocell where you buy one ticket and get another day free of charge. As for the usual tariffs they vary during the week, from Monday to Friday costing 30 GEL while at weekends 40 GEL for the whole day,” said Natia.
Astra Park which is a favourite haunt for extreme-sports enthusiasts, offers 17 Go-kart vehicles in total both for adults and children with maximum speeds of 70km per hour.
“The number of our visitors reaches 250 per day. On a monthly basis we hold competitions among 21 racers where winners get special prizes awarded by the sponsors of the event,” said Otar Simonishvili, Financial Director at Astra Park.
“Prices for our services vary, with 15 GEL for Kart Racing, a 4D movie theatre which is one of a kind not only in Georgia but in the whole of Eastern Europe at just 5 GEL, Billiards – 12-15 GEL, Laser Shooting – 1 GEL, and we also arrange birthday parties and have zoom actions of 1=2 for karting,” said Otar Simonishvili.
The first Laser Delta Club in Tbilisi which was founded in May of 2009, is also a popular destination for youngsters and which serves around 60 customers a day. Delta Club Laser Land play is done in five different scenes within 300 sq.m and players are equipped with touchable gilets and laser weapons. The number of players ranges from 2-10. In the laser space players are taking 3 minutes to pass the laser jets and to open the case being ahead of them. Prices range from 7 GEL during the week and 10 GEL at weekends for it.
We also have a cinema where visitors can rent a movie and watch together with their friends from 19:00-23:00 PM for just 5 GEL with a minimum of 10 people. In summer we plan to show British-American soap opera Battlestar Galactica.
“In the Delta Club we quite frequently organize parties and anniversaries with DJs full of visual and sound effects which cost from 35-70 GEL with a minimum of 15 people,” said Temo Kacharava, Executive Director at Delta Club.
“According to Vladimer Goiashvili, Laguna Vere is visited by around 400 of those interested in swimming. With us prices are affordable and range from 10-20 GEL. We also have a discount for instance if a person takes 24 visits he/she pays 250 GEL and for 12 visits – 100 GEL. Time is also flexible, starting from 7 o’clock in the morning till 13:00 and from 2-9 PM.”
“We also have sliding boards and visitors can also enjoy sitting in the sun’s rays on deckchairs for just 2 GEL,” said Goiashvili.
The Aeronautic Club in Georgia is also arranging hot air balloon flights for the safe Mtskheta-Bazaleti-Mukhrani route in June.
“We usually start our trip from Digomi, fly to Mtsketa and land in Mukhrani. We are normally in the air for about 1.5-2 hours,” Revaz Uturgauri told The FINANCIAL.
“It’s not a cheap pleasure, but the prices that we offer to our clients are 30% cheaper than any other companies in different parts of the world. 3 persons and one pilot are able to sit in one balloon. The price of a tourist trip in an air balloon is 990 GEL. 3 people may divide this sum so that each of them is paying 330 GEL,” Uturgauri said.
The ones who want go shopping and at the same time want to entertain themselves, the newly-opened Tbilisi Central is best, and then to unite a family in an entertainment centre – Bowling Central – opened at the end of April, is best.
“According to our motto – We work for your entertainment – people have the opportunity to relax in our centre after working hours,” says Mako Jaoshvili, Managing Director of Bowling Central.
As well as bowling, the entertainment centre offers 6 billiard tables, including Snooker, Pool and Russian Billiards, a café and bar, cinema room for a maximum of 8 people, karaoke and darts.
Bowling Central will work the whole day long. The prices are different in the morning and late at night. There will be three flexible types of tariff systems, the prices per lane start from 14 GEL and go up to 38 GEL per hour. It is possible for up to 5 people to play together on one lane.
Another type of offer is to pay 4 GEL for 1 game per player. In this case the play is not limited by time and lasts till the bowler ends the whole game including 10 frames.
At present, the only bowling centre is in Kopala, located in Tskneti, a 15 minute drive from Tbilisi .
The prices per person vary depending on the day and time. The least expensive times are morning hours during working-days – 20 GEL per surface per hour. The highest prices are on Friday and weekend evening times – reaching 45 GEL per surface
