The FINANCIAL — A leading domestic wood processing company in Ukraine has introduced new, energy efficient waste-management technologies aimed at reducing wood waste by 35% and significantly decreasing energy use. Thanks to the support received from the European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), ‘Zunami’ has decreased the number of oak logs required to produce finished wooden floors and oak lamellas, saving 6,000 trees through innovative, eco-friendly technologies.
The innovative, energy efficient technologies have also allowed the wood producer to expand by employing over 300 people, exporting the products worldwide and build a greener economy in Ukraine.
The funding for the project was provided by the European Union through the EBRD Finance and Technology Transfer Centre for Climate Change (FINTECC) programme, of which the European Union is a contributor.
