The FINANCIAL — The European Union handed over border surveillance equipment to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs on 1 February.
The donation included communication, surveillance and detection equipment to strengthen Georgia’s capacity to guard its border with Turkey, according to EU Neighbours East Info.
The specialised equipment, worth over EUR 3.4 million, includes watch towers that are currently being constructed along the Georgian-Turkish border. The towers will be equipped with various types of surveillance equipment to detect irregular movement across the green border.
The support comes as part of the EU-funded “Reinforcing the Capacities of the Government of Georgia in Border and Migration Management” project.
