The FINANCIAL — Georgia Palace Hotel, a five star hotel located on the coast of the beautiful resort town Kobuleti, hosted more than 20,000 guests/nights in 2009. Hotel management hopes this number will increase significantly in 2010.
“GPH in 2009 managed to attract those Georgian tourists who planned to spend their vacations in Turkish resorts. We can assure you that the number of tourists will increase in 2010,” said Lela Tsulukidze, Executive Director of Georgia Palace Hotel.
According to Ms. Tsulukidze there are significant changes expected at GPH in the summer season 2010.
“We have opened a conference room for 500 people, where as well as conferences different events will be organized,” she said.
“This year we have also opened the indoor swimming pool and sauna, sports centre, and exclusive VIP zone in beach area with bungalows. For children we will created an in-door as well as out-door play corner. We are trying to create an environment of maximum comfort,” said Ms. Tsulukidze.
Starting from July GPH will offer tourists local tour packages.
Since its opening Georgia Palace has created 300 work-places and the majority of those employed are locals.
“The main challenges in 2010 will be offering better services, more comfort, and to sustain a superior quality mark.
2010 is quite an important year as the hotel has already gained recognition on the local market. The hotel was awarded by Golden Brand, as well as Global Star, which conducts audit checking by European standards, and gave the hotel 5 stars.”
“Being a 5 star brand hotel has resulted in increased interest from society. Those guests that arrive at our hotel say that it is truly a hotel of 5 star standards.”
“Despite our relatively short history of operations we have a long list of loyal clients. The same can be said about our corporate clients and business groups.”
‘This year most of the visitors will probably be from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ukraine and Turkey.”
“We expect high demand for the SPA and sports centre in the following year.
Moreover, we have opened a traditional Indian medicine centre “Ayurveda”, where five specialists from India provide different procedures to guests.”
“Ayurveda” has an international reputation, and we believe that this gives added stimulus for more people to stay at GPH.”
“All the investments we have made in the hotel, including the total sum as well as labour, have proved successful.
The world economic crisis together with post-war period had a direct effect on tourism. However all in all 2009 was quite a successful year for Georgia Palace. That was confirmed by the Golden Brand award we received.”
“The company offered promo prices in the summer season, during which time we included half and full board
Moreover, the opening of the conference room was significant and demand for it is increasing. The centre for Indian medicine will be open in the nearest future too.”
Lela Tsulukidze says the global recession did not affect investment projects in the Adjara region.
“An example of this was the opening of international brand hotel Sheraton in Batumi. Despite the economic crisis the sphere is developing and competition is increasing.”
“Despite the economic crisis, we are trying to follow our main development direction. Moreover, we are trying our best to offer more and more novelties to our guests.”
