The FINANCIAL — The International Chamber of Commerce of Georgia hosted the Fourth ICC Regional Consultative Group (RCG) Broader Middle East – North Africa (B-MENA) Meeting.
The Conference was attended by the Chairmen and Secretary Generals of ten Regional ICC National Committees as well as senior executives from ICC headquarters in Paris and London. As a result of the meeting memorandums were signed between the sides.
“Within the scope of the Conference three Memorandums of Understanding were signed between the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Bahrain, Dubai, and Sharjah, all of them within the ICC family,” said Maya Eristavi, Executive Director at ICC Georgia. “Later on two presentations took place: Model Legal Instruments in ICC Arbitration by Emmanuel Jolivet, Deputy Director of ICC Dispute Resolution Services, and Combating International Commercial Crime by Peter Lowe, Director of ICC Commercial Crime Service,” she added.
The delegation included the Chairmen and Secretary Generals of the following National Committees: Austria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE, as well as high ranking executives from ICC headquarters in Paris and London.
“As it was their first visit they could not evaluate the changes that had been carried out within the last couple of years, however guests had an opportunity to see the working environment in the Ministry of Justice in Rustavi, Lilo Terminal and Revenue Service. They were impressed by the transparency and the simplicity of the procedures.
Georgia’s business environment is convenient for foreign investors as the corruption-free environment as well as the simplified bureaucratic procedures make Georgia very attractive.
This regional event holds great importance for Georgia which was chosen to host it as all attendees are leading businesspeople in their respective countries and will have a chance to see for themselves the incredible changes that happened in our country in recent times in terms of business environment improvement.
