This project includes:
- Installing a new water main measuring 48 inches in diameter made from prestressed concrete cylinder pipe and high-density polyethylene (HPDE) pipe utilizing open-cut and trenchless construction methods.
- Resurfacing the roadway in areas where open-cut construction takes place.
Crews will install the new water main utilizing trenchless technology to minimize the impact on the community. This method is more efficient than traditional open-cut construction and will expedite the completion of the project. Open-cut construction will be necessary in some areas. Work is expected to begin along Perimeter Road at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) and continue east and south toward the Fiveash Water Treatment Plant.
Construction will begin on Monday, May 6, and is expected to be completed in Summer 2025. Work will generally take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Some overnight work may be required. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
