Vladimir Putin, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Gurbanguli Berdimukhammedov, Presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan respectively, agreed upon construction of the Caspian gas pipeline. The Agreement will be signed before 1 September 2007, RIA Novosti reports.
“President of Republic of Kazakhstan, President of Russian Federation and President of Turkmenistan charged Governments of Kazakhstan, Russian Federation and Turkmenistan with preparation till 1 September 2007 and signing of the Agreement on cooperation of the three States under construction of Caspian gas pipeline”, the joint Declaration reads. The Declaration was accepted by the leaders of three States after results of the Summit in Turkmenbashi city.
Under the document, the Agreement envisages preparation of feasibility study, of basic characteristics and terms of implementation of the project, of joint commitments for establishment of favourable conditions for economically effective implementation and of fixing the authorized organizations.
As supposed, Caspian gas pipeline will pass along the coast of the Caspian Sea across the territories of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan and further will reach the Russian territory.
Capacity of the available pipeline system Middle Asia – Centre constructed in 1960-70s fails to meet the current level of partnership of Russia with Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan in gas branch as well as contradicts plans of the two Middle Asian States concerning diversification of the routes of gas supplies to the world markets.
