The FINANCIAL — Georgia-Greece Intergovernmental Committee on Economic and Technology Cooperation, after the 13-year break, held the session in Athens, Greece.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Genadi Arveladze and the Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, George Katrougkalos co-chaired the session.
Decision on conducting the next session of the Georgia-Greece Intergovernmental Committee on Economic and Technology Cooperation was taken during the official visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili to the Athens on March 28, 2017. The third session was prepared and held in a shortest time of two months.
Activation of the economic dialogue between Georgia and Greece and resuming the work of the Georgia-Greece Intergovernmental Committee on Economic and Technology Cooperation was discussed during the session, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
Co-chairs of the session introduced to the session participant information on their countries regarding economic indicators, on-going and up-coming economic reforms and the existing bilateral trade regime. Prospects of cooperation in different field including trade, industry, investments, tourism, agriculture, energy, transport, regional cooperation, communications, innovations, culture, protection of the intellectual rights and other issues were also discussed during the meeting.
Progress achieved by Georgia in terms of commitments under the Association Agreement was particularly highlighted during the session. Representatives of the Hellenic Republic confirmed their readiness to support Georgia in this process.
Upon the completion of the session, the protocol of the third session of the Georgia-Greece Intergovernmental Committee on Economic and Technology Cooperation was signed by the parties.
On 7-8 June, 2017, in order to facilitate economic and trade cooperation between Georgia and Greece as well as encourage business representatives to develop bilateral relations, Georgia-Greece Business Forum is scheduled to be held. Representatives of Georgian and Greek business sectors will, have the opportunity to conduct B2B meeting. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, Nikolaos Quick will head the Greek business delegation.
Third session of the Georgia-Greece Intergovernmental Committee on Economic and Technology Cooperation was held for the first time since 2004.
