The FINANCIAL — According to Dow Jones, former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair will advise Swiss insurer Zurich Financial Services AG (ZURN.VX) on climate and political issues, Blair said Monday in a statement.
"I am very pleased to be taking on this role advising Zurich and in particular supporting its climate initiative," Blair said.
Zurich Financial last week unveiled a plan, dubbed "climate initiative," in which the insurer wants to spur the development of products addressing the evolving risks associated with climate change.
"There is a consensus now that the challenge of climate change is real, and what we need now are the policy solutions to turn that concern into action," Blair said.
"That's why Zurich's work to look at how business, and in particular the insurance sector, can play its part is so crucial, and why I welcome the chance to help them with it," he added.
Earlier this month,Blair took a job as an adviser to J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. (JPM), a part-time position that won't affect his role as a Mideast peace envoy, his spokeswoman said Jan. 10.
