The FINANCIAL — As of January 1, 2018, the banking sector in Georgia is represented by 16 commercial banks, including 15 foreign-controlled banks.
In December 2017, compared to the previous month, the total assets of Georgian commercial banks increased (in current prices) by 35.5 million GEL (or by 0.1 percent) and constituted 34.6 billion GEL (exchange rate effect excluded above mentioned indicator increased by 2.9 percent).
The banking sector’s own funds (equity capital) equal 4.4 billion GEL, which makes up 12.8 percent of the commercial banks total assets, according to NBG.
