The FINANCIAL — On November 5, the first Georgia-Lithuania intergovernmental commission session on economic issues was held in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Dimitry Kumsishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable development of Georgia co-chaired the session with the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania, Evaldas Gustas.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and the Prime Minister of Lithuania, Algirdas Butkevičius addressed the members of the commission with the welcoming speech, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
The minute of the first Georgia-Lithuania intergovernmental commission session was signed at the session.
Within the Commission session, the co-chairs of the Commission informed the members of the two countries about the implemented and ongoing reforms in the economic sphere. The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation in such fields as trade and investments, transport, energy, environment, agriculture, intellectual property protection, health care, culture, etc.
According to the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Dimitry Kumsishvili, Lithuania is a strong supporter of Georgia in all directions including the Euro-Atlantic integration. “Specific issues that were discussed and the agreements which were reached shall reflect on the relations between our two countries and investments both in Georgia as well as Lithuania,” – Dimitry Kumsishvili stated.
Minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania, Evaldas Gustas stated that the intergovernmental economic commission discussed the importance of economic links. According the Minister, it was decided that the number of issues for discussion shall increase for the next session.
Georgian and Lithuanian parties agreed to held the next session of the Commission in 2016, in Tbilisi.
