The FINANCIAL — On 8 February 2016, Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze met President of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania Valeriu Ștefan Zgonea, according to MFA of Georgia.
Discussions focused on the bilateral relations and prospects for further development of co-operation. Particular emphasis was put on the need to enhance bilateral economic relations and on the implementation of the energy and transport projects.
The two sides discussed the importance of Georgia’s integration with the European and Euro-Atlantic structures. In this context, the necessity of duly completion of the visa liberalisation process was underlined.
Mikheil Janelidze thanked Valeriu Ștefan Zgonea for the active participation in the implementation of the Substantial Package and for the contribution to the EU Monitoring Mission.
Valeriu Ștefan Zgonea in turn reaffirmed Romania’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and for Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
The President of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania, who is on his two-day visit to Georgia, has already met Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Speaker of the Parliament David Usupashvili. Tomorrow he will meet President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili and Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II.
