The FINANCIAL — Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia is paying a visit to the People’s Republic of China where he held the first meeting with the Governor of the Fujian Province – Yu Weiguo.
The parties discussed the further enhancing of the economic cooperation between the two countries. The conversation also covered those 18 largest international trade and investment exhibitions, which will be held in Xiamen between 18-21 September. It was emphasized during the meeting that the year of 2017 was crucial for Georgia-China relations since the Free Trade Agreement was signed between the countries, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
“2017 is a very important year for Georgia-China relations. We signed the Free Trade Agreement with China. Today we are here as a recipient country for the largest investment exhibition in the world. In November 2017, Georgia will once again host the Silk Road Forum (Belt and Road Forum 2017), which is also of outmost importance. We discussed the objectives of the Forum with the Governor since this Forum will be a logical prolongation of the Forum held in Beijing several months ago. We focused on the economic benefits that our countries can receive upon the implementation of the project’s infrastructural part. First of all, this benefits include the Free Trade Regime, the Tbilisi Forum scheduled in November and of course, this Investment Forum, where approximately 120 Georgian companies will participate, – Giorgi Gakharia stated.
During the exhibition, upon the organization of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the LEPL Produce in Georgia and with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is scheduled to introduce Georgian capabilities in different directions and mainly in such fields as business-friendly environment and investments and trade opportunities to the participating parties.
High-level government meetings, bilateral sessions for private sector representatives and other various events will also be held within the Exhibition, which will facilitate the further enhancement of Georgia-China relations.
