The FINANCIAL — The House of Representatives of the Netherlands investigates measures taken by the Dutch government between September 2008 and January 2009 aimed at minimizing the impact of the credit crisis.
A parliamentary inquiry commission headed by Member of Parliament Jan de Wit was established to conduct the investigation. The commission seeks to document the implementation of government measures during the crisis, focussing on the use of government funds. The commission plans to present its final report in March 2012.
In November 2011 the commission conducts interviews with individuals involved in the government’s support operations. These hearings are broadcast by the website of the houses of parliament.
The parliamentary commission will examine the support the Netherlands government gave to ING Group. Naturally, ING will offer full cooperation to the commission. ING Group would like to explain the circumstances that led to the use of government facilities. Moreover, ING intends to clarify how the transactions with the government were executed.
