The FINANCIAL — JLL continues to invest in strategic new hires to respond to the rapidly growing market demand for smart buildings. Akshay Thakur, Director, Smart Building Program, EMEA, joins a growing global team under the leadership of Darlene Pope, Senior Vice President and Global Practice Lead.
Thakur will lead the JLL Smart Building Program in the EMEA region, helping companies implement integrated smart building solutions and develop Internet of Things (IoT) strategies to drive business value around operational efficiencies, business intelligence, and employee experience, health and wellness, according to JLL.
“Akshay brings an extremely valuable skill set around the implementation of IoT and smart building solutions, as well as global program expertise. We are excited that Akshay has joined the JLL team to lead our Smart Building Program in EMEA,” said Pope. “This demonstrates JLL’s ongoing commitment and investment in attracting top talent and subject matter experts who can guide our global clients along their smart building journey.”

Based in London, Thakur joins JLL after more than 15 years at Cisco Systems, where he most recently led business development for smart buildings in EMEAR and APAC regions. He also held regional sales and business development positions related to technology and innovation solutions, along with technical account management and software engineering roles for mobile service providers, financial institutions and enterprises. He has also fostered nontraditional strategic partnerships to deliver innovative solutions and led the development of a business incubation center for entrepreneurs.
Thakur holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the University of New South Wales. He is a Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and is The Open Group 8 Certified (TOGAF 8).
