The FINANCIAL — JLL Switzerland has acquired Geneva-based real estate consultancy Meridian Immobilier SA as part of its plan to grow its business in the French-speaking part of the country.
Meridian, founded in 2008, has strong local roots in Geneva. The acquisition brings JLL a team of 10 employees based in Geneva with deep knowledge and experience, and will enable clients to access JLL’s services more easily from that market. It provides a platform from which JLL can not only conduct work for clients in the areas of valuations, capital markets transactions and lettings – thereby complementing existing capabilities – but also expands JLL’s offering by adding new capabilities for corporate clients in the areas of project management and project control, according to JLL.
The new JLL branch office in Geneva will be headed by Meridian’s founding partners, Pierre Stämpfli and Anna Briffod.
Jan Eckert, JLL Switzerland CEO, said: “We are delighted to embark on a new phase of our development together with Pierre Stämpfli and Anna Briffod. There is a great cultural and strategic fit between Meridian and JLL. Bringing our businesses together will bring new opportunities for clients to work with us, as well as underline our strong position in the real estate consultancy market across Switzerland as a whole. We are excited about the growth potential in Switzerland and look forward to continuing to develop our business to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse client base.”
The expansion of JLL’s operations in western Switzerland cements its position as a leading real estate consultancy in Switzerland and is a continuation of JLL’s dynamic growth in recent years. Today JLL employs around 40 consultants at its offices in Zurich and Geneva, making it one of the largest real estate consultancy firms in Switzerland. JLL ranks among the market leaders in the area of advisory services for real estate sales and acquisitions with a transaction value above CHF 10 million and in the area of valuation appraisal services for investment properties in Switzerland. JLL has gained significant market share in commercial space leasing in recent years and has established itself as an experienced tenant representation partner for numerous domestic and international corporate clients. JLL’s tenant representation operations include advisory services covering location search issues, lease negotiations, and innovative leasing and financing models.
