The FINANCIAL — According to Civil Georgia, Kazakh Agriculture Minister, Akylbek Kurishbayev, told lawmakers that Astana had dropped plans to build a grain terminal in Georgia’s port town of Poti, the Kazakh official news agency, Kazinform, reported on September 22.
The Agriculture Minister cited “the current situation in Georgia” after the August war with Russia.
Kazakhstan, one of the main foreign investors in Georgia, signed a deal with the Georgian government in June, 2007, on construction of grain terminal in Poti. It was announced at that time that Kazakhstan planned to invest USD 10 million in the construction of the terminal.
