The FINANCIAL — Kobuleturi Sista, one of the leading dairy producers in Georgia, was founded in 2003 with the initial investment of 2,000 USD and with staff of only 5 employees.
At present the company’s monthly turnover is 450,000 GEL and the highest selling product is sour cream Kobuleturi. The company employs 106 people including distributors.
“In the nearest future we plan to increase the assortments of sour milk and cottage cheese. Moreover we will introduce a new brand of sour-cream Krembrule,” says Mamuka Akhvlediani, the founder of Kobuleturi Sista.
Q. Kobuleturi Sista has been operating on the market for 6 years. However, the company’s debut was in the year 2009, when the company opened a new factory and presented new products. How has the business changed since this?
A. Together with opening the plant we started an advertising campaign, increased assortment, and improved distribution team work, all of which had great influence on sales. The realization has doubled over 4 months.
We invested 230,000 USD in our business. We have incorporated two industries (in Tbilisi and Kobuleti) into one capacity. For the promotion of the products we spent 4,500 USD over 4 months.
“Our main goal is to sustain the position in the market, improving production technologies, placing our new brands forward that will in total lead to increase in sales by 15%.”
Mamuka Akhvlediani says the total capacity for the year 2010 is approximately 5.5-6 million products.
“Quality and only Quality! That is the motto by which we attract our customers,” said Akhvlediani.
“Kobuleturi products are natural and are produced using only natural and dry milk.”
“We offer our customers sour milk products, in the production of which we do not use stabilizers, emulgators or conservants.
“We plan to increase the number of milk collection points. As well as this we are participating in the Holland programme, by which help we would like to create an experimental farm. We will be teaching local farmers how to look after Dutch races of beef. After which we will give them this beef free of charge.”
“There are several factors affecting development of farming and dairy production. The case is quite complicated and it is difficult to summarise.
The country’s present political and economical development, low taxes, and free environment for business production governs future investments for farming development. Country farming is partly dependent on subsidies though. Consequently, the development of our country will be reflected in this industry’s development.”
“We are focused on the creation of 1-2 different brands. These are the sour-creams Kobuleturi and Kaimaguri. The high quality of this product and active promotion has had a positive outcome. Under the trademark Kobuleturi the production has its own target market and market niche.”
“We are in the process of getting an ISO certificate. At the end of the year we plan to get HASP and ISO 9001 certificates. Our development prerogative is to offer consumers ecologically clean and natural milk produced offerings.”
