The FINANCIAL — The Russian President makes a previously unannounced trip to breakaway South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali on July 13, Civil Georgia reports.
“A meeting between Dmitry Medvedev and President of the [South Ossetian] republic, Eduard Kokoity, is being held in Tskhinvali,” the Kremlin said in a brief statement on July 13.
The Russian President was welcomed by hundreds of Tskhinvali residents at the main government building before meeting with South Ossetian leader, according to the Russian news agencies.
