The FINANCIAL — A 26-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Meritxell Mateu Pi (Andorra, ALDE), will travel to Georgia from 25 to 28 October to observe the conduct of the presidential election.
The FINANCIAL — A 26-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Meritxell Mateu Pi (Andorra, ALDE), will travel to Georgia from 25 to 28 October to observe the conduct of the presidential election, alongside observers from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the European Parliament, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
The delegation will meet the main candidates in the election, the Minister of Justice, the Chair of the Central Election Commission and representatives of civil society and the media, before being deployed around the country to observe the ballot on 27 October.
A member of the Venice Commission – the Council of Europe's group of independent legal experts – will provide legal support during the visit, according to the Parliamentary Assembley.
A PACE pre-electoral delegation visited Tbilisi on 24-25 September.
