The FINANCIAL — As part of Georgian Defense and Security Conference, the President of Georgia H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili has held a meeting with the Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs of the European External Action Service, Mr. Jean-Christophe Belliard.
The meeting, also attended by the Secretary of National Security Council Mr. Davit Rakviashvili and Advisor to the President for Foreign Affairs Mr. Tengiz Pkhaladze focused on Georgia’s European integration process, steps to be taken by Georgia to accelerate the integration and preparation for the Eastern Partnership Summit of Brussels, according to the Administration of the President of Georgia.
“Georgia’s cooperation with the European Union, including in terms of security, is of utmost importance and it is crucial to hold a strategic dialogue in this regard as well. Conversation at the meeting touched upon the steps to be taken by Georgia to be further strengthened in the context of common European security; currently the EU mission is the only mechanism that carries out conflict monitoring. Therefore, it is important Georgia’s problems to be discussed in the common European security context. When we talk about the challenges facing the EU, including hybrid wars and information security, the unfortunate experience of Georgia should also be considered in the context of common European security,” Mr. Pkhaladze said.
