The FINANCIAL — Following its launch during the anniversary year the Bayer volunteering program has been successfully extended. The selection panel of the Bayer Cares Foundation awarded funding of up to EUR 5,000 each for 78 more projects in 42 countries by the end of 2014, in which employees of the Bayer Group strive to improve the living conditions in the vicinity of the company’s sites on a voluntary basis, according to Bayer AG.
As part of the new round of funding for the volunteering program, which was opened up to employees all over the world in 2013 to mark the Group’s 150th anniversary, the Bayer Cares Foundation is offering total funding of almost EUR 280,000. This facilitates the realization of innovative ideas aimed at improving health care, bettering education prospects and relieving social need. Since 2007, the foundation has already helped launch 433 projects in 59 countries with start-up funding totaling around EUR 1.6 million.
“The voluntary commitment of our employees worldwide is impressive,” said Michael König, the Bayer AG Management Board member responsible for Human Resources, Technology and Sustainability and member of the Executive Committee of the Bayer Cares Foundation. “We are pleased to channel support into their voluntary social commitment. They make wonderful ambassadors for the company with their efforts outside of work and execute our mission “Bayer: Science For A Better Life” in an exemplary manner,” he added.
