The FINANCIAL — Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze and newly appointed Ambassador of the United Kingdom Justin McKenzie Smith highlighted the existing strong friendly relations between their two countries and underlined that given post-Brexit new realities the development of bilateral relations has acquired particular importance.
Newly appointed Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Georgia Justin McKenzie Smith presented copies of his credentials to Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze, according to MFA of Georgia.
Following the presentation ceremony, the two sides discussed the issues of mutual co-operation and underlined that given new realities in Europe as a result of Brexit the enhancement of bilateral relations with the United Kingdom has acquired particular importance. With that end in view the sides should make maximum use of the existing political co-operation format – the Wardrop Dialogue – which includes almost all spheres of bilateral relations.
Mikheil Janelidze informed Justin McKenzie Smith on the current reforms in Georgia, on the pre-election environment and on the ongoing developments in the occupied territories.
For his part, the British diplomat reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s firm support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
Mikheil Janelidze wished the newly appointed Ambassador success in his future activities.
