Misha Nadareishvili, one of the graduates of ISET 2014, is going to continue studying with a Ph.D. programme abroad.
“At ISET I gained a good economic knowledge, the best in the Caucasus. I hope that this knowledge will help me in building a successful career. The fact that the studies are provided in the English language is very attractive. At ISET the level of education is higher than at all the other universities in Georgia. Besides the actual knowledge, students are able to get very good work experience. For example, I am currently working at TBC Bank where I am gaining very valuable experience,” he said.
The ministries of economy and finance of Georgia congratulated the graduates at the end of the two year Master’s programme and invited them to apply for work at state institutions.
“This is a school of the highest standards in its curriculum, faculty and programmes,” said Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development. “The graduates of this school can cope with the strictest requirements of the job market not only locally but also internationally. I would like to thank all the founders of the school for contributing to the creation of the economic school ISET. I have just heard that USAID has agreed to sponsor the special agricultural economic programme which I think is very important, especially nowadays when agriculture is becoming a more and more important part of the overall economy,” Kvirikashvili added.
“I am sure that all of the graduates will become very successful economists in the near future. The Government is ready to see these graduates employed in the public sector but it would be better to see them in the private sector where they can build successful careers and businesses,” said Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance of Georgia.
The International School of Economics was founded at Tbilisi State University in 2006, through a unique collaborative effort of the World Bank, BP, Open Society Institute, and the governments of Georgia, Germany, Sweden and Norway.
ISET offers a two-year Master’s Programme in Economics, serving Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The programme adheres to international academic standards with English language instruction by a visiting and resident international Ph.D. faculty. Of more than 100 graduates to date, more than one third hold analytical positions with economic policy agencies in all three countries of the South Caucasus region. About 10% are continuing their education in the most prestigious Ph.D. programmes in Europe and North America, such as Stanford, Chicago and Pennsylvania Universities.
