The FINANCIAL — The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on June 23 re-elected Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni (Italy) as Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe. It is her second mandate in this post.
For the past two and a half years, Mrs Battaini-Dragoni has served as the Council of Europe’s Deputy Secretary General. She is the first person to have held the post under its revised mandate, which gives the role a strong operational remit. As such she has been responsible for implementing the measures needed to support the Secretary General’s reform agenda, in line with the decisions of the Committee of Ministers, according to PACE.
Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni has worked at the Council of Europe since 1976. Prior to her election to the post of Deputy Secretary General in September 2012 she was notably Director General of Programmes (2011-2012), Director General of Education, Culture and Heritage, Youth and Sport (2004-2011) and Director General of Social Cohesion.
